Tour of Sahara desert from Fes ends in Marrakech. In case your departure flight is from Fes or Casablanca we can slightly change the itinerary to best fit your convenience. The tour includes two nights in Fes, one night in the Erg Chebbi desert in Merzouga, one night in Ourzazate and two nights in Marrakech.
Day 1 • Arrival in Fes
Upon arrival, you will be assisted in your transfer from Fes airport to the hotel or Riad. Depending on the time of arrival we can organize a private guided tour of Fes. We will settle into our accommodation and enjoy dinner.
Day 2 • Private guided tour of Fes
After breakfast our local tour guide will come to pick you up at your accommodation and take you on a walk to discover the most emblematic and exotic corners of this charming city. You will visit the golden doors of the Royal palace, see the old Medina, experience the Medrasa El Bou Anania, the Nejjarin fountain, the Karaouine Mosque (only exterior for non – Muslims), one of the main cultural centers of Islam and home to the University of Fes, and the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum. Of course we are not going to forget the Jewish quarter of Fes, the tanners quarter and the neighborhoods of artisan guilds. A delicious free lunch will be provided on this day. At the end of the day we will enjoy dinner and our accommodation.
Day 3 • Fes – Midelt – Errachidia – Erfoud and Mezouga desert (Erg Chebbi)
Day three begins with breakfast at the hotel and then we will depart to visit the beautiful city of Ifrane. We will cross the cedar forests until we reach the city of Midelt where we will make a stop for lunch. Then we will continue towards Errachidia and Erfoud: the true “Door of the Desert”. Upon arrival in the Erg Chebbi desert of Merzouga we will ride on dromedaries to see an impressive spectacle; a Sunset in the desert of Sahara. After this unforgettable experience we will return to our place of accommodation and have a dinner. You have the option to choose between staying in a Hotel – Kasbah (a unique hotel in the traditional adobe style) or Jaimas (a traditional Berber tent) under the starry night sky with all of its comforts. This route is 476km (295 miles).
Day 4 • Merzouga Desert – Todra – Ourzazate
On this day, you have the opportunity to see the sunrise in the desert (optional). You have to get up very early, but we do highly recommend it! We will go to see this wonderful sunrise show mounted on the backs of the dromedaries. Upon returning to the camp we will have breakfast and prepare to set out on our way to the Rissani Palm Grove, the old imperial city and the cradle of the current dynasty. Then we will continue our route to one of the most beautiful landscapes of our trip: “The Gorges of Todra”. During our visit the Gorges of Todra we will stop for lunch and then continue to make our way to Ourzazate through the route of “the Kasbahs”, a series of adobe fortresses until we reach the “Pearl of the Desert”: Ourzazate “. Dinner and accommodation. This route is 370 km (229 miles).
Day 5 • Ouarzazte – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
After breakfast we will visit with our local tour guide the Kasbah Taurirt: the former residence and harem of the Pachá of Marrakech. Our route continues to the famous fortified town of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a World Heritage Site. After we visit the spot and have a lunch we continue to Marrakech. This route is 213 km (132 miles).
Day 6 • Private guided tour of Marrakech
Day six starts with breakfast at the hotel followed by a private guided tour of Marrakech. You will get to see the Menara Gardens – La Koutoubia Mosque (only outside visit for non – Muslims) – Bahia Palace – Jemaa El Fna Square – the old Medina, the Jewish quarter of Marrakech and experience the Majorelle Gardens. In the evening, dinner & accommodation.
Day 7 • Marrakech – transfer to the airport
Our final day begins with breakfast, followed by some free time, a hammam & spa or private guided city tour. (this is optional) and dependent on the time of your transfer to the Marrakech airport.
